Top Boutique Hotels in Georgia: Where to Stay and Words of Cauti

Top Boutique Hotels in Georgia: Where to Stay and Words of Cauti
January 9, 2026

Tbilisi is the city that almost managed to redeem Georgia in my travel-weary eyes. Unfortunately, I started my itinerary in Tbilisi, and from there, things only went downhill.

When it comes to finding a good boutique hotel in Tbilisi, however, it truly feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of Georgia. Here, they actually know how to change bed sheets without an argument—something that shouldn’t be remarkable, yet somehow is.

In the heart of the city, where most of the action happens, you’ll find a solid selection of boutique hotels that cater to comfort and peace of mind.

Here are two hotels in Tbilisi I would gladly stay at again.

Hotel 21

Hotel 21 is a newcomer with great potential, having opened its doors in 2023. This means two important things: it’s still clean, and the staff haven’t become jaded yet.

This four-star hotel knows how to treat its guests well. The staff are professional, attentive, and genuinely caring—something that can easily make up for minor shortcomings. Great service can elevate an entire stay, and Hotel 21 benefits enormously from the people who work there.

The beds deserve special mention. They’re extremely comfortable, making it easy to wake up feeling refreshed. The hotel’s overall modern and cool design is appealing, and its location next to the Sameba Cathedral is convenient.

That said, there is a catch. While being near Tbilisi’s main cathedral sounds impressive, the hotel is actually located around the corner from the main entrance, in a rather unremarkable neighborhood. There’s also an unfinished building next door, which may or may not ever be completed.

Breakfast is another mixed experience. If you arrive early, you’ll be rewarded with an excellent spread. However, keeping the food warm seems to be an ongoing challenge. If breakfast matters to you and you’re not an early riser, checking the most recent reviews before booking is a good idea.

Blue Balcony Hotel

Another relatively new boutique hotel making a positive impact is Blue Balcony Hotel. This charming property is set inside a centuries-old building that has been carefully restored, creaky wooden floors included.

The staff here are friendly and welcoming, which immediately sets the tone for a pleasant stay. Their warmth and attentiveness are among the hotel’s strongest points.

The location is excellent, situated on the northern edge of Old Town, close to Anchiskhati Basilica—the oldest church in Tbilisi—and the quirky Gabriadze Theater tower.

There are a few drawbacks worth noting. The grey walls in the rooms can feel a bit gloomy, and the colorful velvet furniture may not suit everyone’s taste. That said, the hotel does a good job of blending old and new elements in its common areas.

Light sleepers should be aware that the old wooden floors can amplify noise from neighboring rooms. Earplugs are recommended, as is an eye mask, since the curtains don’t fully block out light.

One insider tip: choose a room with a traditional balcony. While the upper floors feature modern patios, they lack the authentic Tbilisi character found in the classic balconies on the lower levels.
